Coldspring,
Texas
The beauty of the 161,508
acres of the Sam Houston Forest surrounds Timber Lodge RV Resort and adds to the many
existing recreational amenities that are available for visitors to the resort.
You'll want to walk along
the Lone Star Hiking Trail and visit the Double Lake Recreational Area or Big Creek Scenic
Area in the Forest for a beautiful view of what Mother Nature has to offer in southeastern
Texas.

Those wanting to shop will
enjoy visiting nearby Coldsprings to browse through the quaint shops, look for antiques
and visit the local museums. Conroe offers more hours of shopping in its variety of county
western shops, malls, shopping centers and factory outlet center.
Outdoor
enthusiasts will want to visit nearby lakes Livingston and Conroe where
water sports of all kinds and equipment rentals to enable you to enjoy them
are available.
Huntsville is the ideal
place for those interested in the history of the region. Two of Sam Houston's homes, the
1848 Woodland and his last home, Steamboat House erected in 1848 are located within the
Sam Houston Memorial Museum Complex. Mr. Houston's law office and a museum containing his
belongings and artifacts from the Texas Revolution Era are also found on the premises. In
Oakwood Cemetery, a large stone monument marks his grave.
The Alabama - Coushatta
Indian culture can be observed firsthand when you visit the oldest Indian settlement in
Texas, the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation. The museum features dioramas of their
history along with a 20-minute train ride, historical tours and a visit to the Living
Indian Village to see the authentic tribal dances.
A vacation in the area
would not be complete without traveling the hour's drive south to Houston, the nation's
fourth largest city and one of the country's largest seaports. The Astrodomain in Houston
is a sports, entertainment and convention complex famous for it's Astrodome. AstroHall and
AstroArena across from the Astrodome is the 75 acre Six Flags Astroworld, an amusement
park with more than 100 rides for the whole family's enjoyment.
